SCRIPTURE: EXCERPTS FROM 1 John 4: 12,13,16,18,19
12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13 This is how we know that we live in God and God in us: God has given us of God’s Spirit. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because God first loved us.
Points for the Bulletin “Divine Love”
1. DIVINE LOVE IS OUR SPRITUAL FOUNDATION: God’s love is not merely an attribute, but it is God’s very essence, a love that is eternal, infinite, and unchanging.
2. GOD’S LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL DIVINE LOVE: God’s love is not dependent on our actions or worthiness. It is freely given to all. Our relationships are true resources of information about others and ourselves. What we see in others is actually a reflection of who we are.
3. DIVINE LOVE IS TRANSFORMATIVE EMPOWERING LOVE: Divine love can change our hearts and lives, leading to growth and transformation. God’s love empowers us to love others, even those who are difficult or unlovable.
4. OUR GOAL DURING LENTEN SEASON: To grow in spiritual consciousness to the extent that we can extend Divine Love to everyone and everything at all times.
